3⁄4 | + | 1⁄4 | = |   ?⁄4 |
The denominator is the number on the bottom of the fraction. If the denominators are the same for both fractions you are adding, you simply add the numbers on top (the numerators) and put it on top of the common denomonimator
3/4 + 1/4
Both fractions have 4 in the denominator. So you can add them. Just add 3 + 1 to get 4 in the numerator.
3/4 + 1/4 = 4/4
